Private CBSE students protest, demand cancellation of class 12 examinations

New Delhi: Many students of class 12 along with their parents on Tuesday protested outside the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) office to demand cancellation of private/compartment/patrachar/improvement examinations. They have been demanding cancellation of examinations in view of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

According to them, no one from the CBSE office came out to hear their grievances. Rather, police were called on the spot. It is to be noted that the CBSE had cancelled class 12 examinations earlier but that did not apply to private/compartment/patrachar/improvement examinations.

Education activist and President of NCR Parents Association, Sukhpal Singh Toor said that they have been requesting the Prime Minister Office (PMO), Education Ministry and CBSE on social media to cancel the examination in the last one month but nobody listened to them.

“We were forced to protest. The students are worried about their admissions in foreign colleges, colleges in India and competitive exams. There are many colleges where admissions will soon start but these students won't be able to apply as their exams are scheduled between August 16 and September 15. The results will come later,” Toor said.

A review petition has also been filed in the Supreme Court to demand cancellation of private/compartment/patrachar/improvement examinations like it was done for regular students. The review petition is detailed representation on behalf of the parents. The review petition was filed by Advocate Mamta Sharma. The hearing is on Wednesday (July 28).
