On September 5, some areas in Dwarka seemed like mini-Mumbais. Resident groups from across the sub-city organised celebrations for Ganesh Mahotsav, with cultural fests and dozens of stalls offering sumptuous delicacies.

Maharashtra Mitra Mandal organised a week-long celebration at Park Royal society, Sector 9, Dwarka, while Jagannath Seva Sangh, a group of Odiya residents, celebrated the festival with a one-day cultural programme and community feast at Upkari Apartments, Sector 12.

"We have decided to celebrate Ganesh Mahotsav from September 5 to September 11," said Anirudh Shukla, a member of Maharashtra Mitra Mandal. "This year's festival was bigger than ever, with cultural events and fun activities such as a painting competition and games. The women involved also put up food stalls."
