Beautification of roundabouts, intersections to start soon in Dwarka

Dwarka: Soon the roundabouts and intersections in Dwarka would be beautified by the civic bodies. In this regard, a joint inspection happened in Dwarka Ward 38S, in which officials of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Area Councillor Kamaljeet Sehrawat took a round of the city and discussed what can be done to beautify the city.

Chief Engineer DDA, Dwarka, Ajay Agarwal; Executive Engineer, DDA, Dwarka, Lakhmichand, Deputy Director of Horticulture Division, Dwarka, Fulwar Singh Chahar; and South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) officials were present during the round.

“In the round, there was a discussion about proposals for development and beautification and they were also finalised. The policy decision will be taken over the assignment of work to the department of DDA. Either the Engineering or Horticulture department is expected to be assigned the work. After that, all the work will be pursued. In the meantime, options will be discussed for type and style of beautification,” said councillor Kamaljeet Sehrawat.

Sehrawat further informed that earlier six intersections were beautified by the SDMC but due to lack of funds, other intersections were not taken. “Now the rest 98 intersections across the city would be beautified by the DDA. The vacant spaces will be made green and it will be ensured that no one litter that area,” she said.

Across Dwarka, the beautification of roundabouts started a few months back along the metro corridor. As informed by the Deputy Director of Horticulture Dwarka, Fulwar Singh Chahar, some roundabouts like near Vegas Mall and Sector 12 have already been beautified with ornamental plants.

In the joint visit to the area, the issue of dark spots was also discussed. As informed by the officials, to make the illumination of roads better, pruning of overgrown branches of trees across the city has already been started.
