Noida: Ganga water pipeline maintenance raises borewell issues

Noida: The Progressive Community Foundation, a resident welfare group of Noida, has written a letter to Noida Authority related to borewell water issues. It was mentioned in the letter that according to various newspapers due to cleaning in the Ganga canal, the supply of Ganga water will be stopped from October 17,

As a result, the residents of Noida will not get Ganga water for the next 20 to 25 days. They said that the borewell water normally has TDS around 1,500-2,500, which is not at all suitable for drinking, but also not fit for bathing.

The supply of Ganga water flowing from Ghaziabad to Noida will be stopped from October 17 due to the cleaning of the Ganga canal. However, from November 4, it will be restored again.

Amit Gupta, a member of Progressive Community Foundation, said, “Seven months ago, a tender was floated by the water department of the authority so that borewells in Noida can be treated and used properly when water is not available in the Ganga canal, in order to get clean water. But it has to be told with great sadness that till now, this tender has not been accepted.”

“On October 11, this tender came out. In the last seven months, such an important tender could not come out, it shows how serious the water department is towards this work. We requested the authority to direct the water department to get this work done on priority so that if not this year then next year, the residents of Noida can get clean drinking water with less TDS whenever the supply of Ganga water is stopped,” he said.
