Through the initiative, people can ensure plantation on Birthday/Marriage Anniversary/Other special occasions for their closed ones. The SDMC will provide an e-certificate online which can be presented to their closed ones. Since the SDMC will take care of the sapling/tree, people need not to be engaged in its maintenance. People will have to spend nearly 2000-2500 to avail the facility of 'Gift a Tree'.

NGT Chairman Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel praised efforts of the SDMC. He said that such initiatives should be taken on priority basis to protect the environment.

Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti while explaining the significance of the initiative said, “trees are a key component of this earth as they protect the environment and we should focus on planting trees. A single tree observes nearly 1 ton Carbon Dioxide in its whole life which helps in controlling Global Warming. Besides this, plantation is the easiest work for Environment Protection.
