Gudiya Gupta, President, MBRWA and Deepak Khanna, Founder of Serve Samman NGO, welcomed all the guests.  Ladies from the community went together for a session of henna ahead of Karva Chauth. The event followed all the protocols as per the guidelines.

Social distancing followed in the event

Ms Gudiya Gupta said, “the reason behind this event was to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Karwa Chauth in a traditional manner in the comfort of your block with complete hygiene & safety amongst the fellow residents”.

MLA of GK, Mr Saurabh Bharadwaj

As per the MBRWA rules, no outsiders were allowed to join the event was solely for the society members. MLA of GK, Mr Saurabh Bharadwaj and SDMC Councillor Mrs Shikha Rai were there. Refreshments were served and festive music was played to create a joyful and lively atmosphere.

The ladies at the event conveyed that it’s safer and better to have Mehendi done near their home than hopping markets that are constantly flooded with crowds during the festive season. The event is a great way to have a friendly interaction with everybody on the block.

Stills from the event

Last year due to covid-19, the event was a bit slow; there were fewer people as everybody was scared to come out of their house. This year, the event saw an increase in the number of attendees; ladies were sure that they were in a safe environment so everyone was entirely fascinated.

Deepak Khanna, Founder of Serve Samman NGO,  has been running the NGO for the past 30 years. All the girls who were applying mehandi were fully vaccinated. The money they were getting from Mehendi will go as a donation to the NGO.

President of MBRWA, Gudiya Gupta said that the main motto behind such events was to to celebrate womanhood, life and encourage people to celebrate festivals in unity and harmony.
