Dwarka Forum meets UTTIPEC, DDA

On October 25, a meeting was organized between Dwarka Forum and Uttam Gupta, Director, UTTIPEC (Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure Planning and Engineering Centre), Delhi Development Authority at DDA Office, Vikas Minar, ITO, New Delhi. Chharing Bodh, Assistant Director was also present in the meeting.

Dwarka Forum (DF) handed over a letter to the Director of UTTIPEC, DDA on various important issues related to traffic and transportation infrastructure of Dwarka sub-city about Delhi Development Authority.

Dwarka Forum discussed the requirements of flyovers at intersections of (i) Sectors 1,2,6 &7 on road number 201,  (ii) Rajapuri crossing on road number 201, (iii) Dwarka Mor T-point and also (iv) Tunnel road or underpass at Shahbad Mohammadpur Railway crossing etc. for improvement of the traffic situation of Dwarka sub-city.

Due to heavy traffic congestion, the issue of widening of existing Palam - Dwarka flyover was also discussed in detail.

DF requested for a foot-over bridge near Dwarka Sector 21 metro station and the possibility of a parallel road along with the railway line from Bijwasan to Delhi Cantt etc.

DF shared the feedback received from Dwarka residents about various traffic issues prevalent in Dwarka and discussed the possible remedial measures for the improvement of traffic conditions.

Dwarka Forum also discussed the requirements of multilevel parking facilities particularly near markets of Sector 6 & 10, markets of Sectors 4,5,11, & 12, near Ramphal Chowk market, Sector-7, Dwarka and near Medical Council of India, Sector-8, Dwarka etc.

DF requested for Metro connectivity between Blue line and Magenta line through Dwarka sub-city and extension of Airport Metro Line up to IFFCO Chowk.

It was also decided that a joint meeting will be arranged with officials from UTTIPEC, School of Planning and Architecture and Dwarka Forum on these issues.

The Director and other concerned officials of 'Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure  Planning nd Engineering Centre (UTTIPEC) DDA' briefed DF about the Comprehensive Mobility Plan for Dwarka Sub City and took a note of all the points that emanated from the discussions.

The Director (UTTIPEC) assured to take all possible steps on the issues discussed and to make citizens life more comfortable.

Chhatwal, General Secretary, Dwarka Forum, said, "Based on feedback received from Dwarka residents, we raised the issues of traffic problems being faced by residents of sub-city in the meeting with UTTIPEC, who is also looking after traffic and transportation Infrastructure of Delhi. We also suggested possible remedial measures for improvement in the traffic conditions of Dwarka Sub City. We hope with the resolution of these issues, traffic conditions will improve considerably"
