Authority's road repair work patchy, complain Noida residents

Noida: After many follow-ups by the residents of Golden Palm, Paras Seasons and Sunworld Arista societies of Sector 168 Noida, the filling of the road was done by the Noida Authority. A stretch of more than 500-meter was broken.

They shared a tweet

Residents shared that after eight months of frequent complaints about the condition of roads, the authorities only filled the potholes. After a few days, the condition became the same. The residents thus demand a  proper resurfacing of roads.

Amit Sinha, a resident of Sector 168 said, “After follow-up for resurfacing of roads at sector 168 Noida, mere patchwork has been done by Noida Authority. The citizens followed up for about a year for resurfacing roads that were constructed in 2014. The patchwork on the stretch of 600 meters took more than 4 months.”

He added, “The patchwork has created more problems as two-wheelers are losing balance causing many accidents in just a week. To the astonishment of residents,  on one hand, the Noida Authority is spending on beautification and on the other hand, patchwork and repair of roads are being ignored. A big question is whether these repairs are ever supervised and on what basis are sectors being  prioritised where some sectors have all amenities and sectors like 168  are deprived of basic facilities of roads.”

Ganesh Dutt Pandey, a resident said, “We were hoping that the roads would be resurfaced when the machines arrived but it was surprising to see temporary patchwork after so many follow-ups. We are not sure of the criteria for road resurfacing as it takes a year or so to approve the resurfacing of the road that was made in 2014. Ever since, whenever the road breaks, the patch repair is done which further adds to problems.”

Puneet, a resident of Paras Season apartment said, “This is high time,  the resurfacing should have been done by now, the road is in its poorest state. Patch repair does provide a temporary solution but after following for about a year, ideally, this road calls for resurfacing  and patch repairs will come off pretty soon as seen in the past.”
