The Delhi factor in Bollywood movies

Delhi, also known as 'Dil Walon Ki Nagri', has been a hot favourite amongst many filmmakers who have captured the essence of the capital brilliantly in their movies. Several movies like Delhi 6 and Rang De Basanti have been shot at the majestic monuments, bustling bylanes of purani Dilli and the iconic India Gate, and today, we're gonna tell you about such movies.

Hindi Medium

The movie was well received by the audience, given its brilliant storyline and a remarkable performance by Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar, but did you know that it was shot in the capital? Oh yes, various scenes were shot at Chandni Chowk, where the couple originally lived and Anand Lok, where they later moved into a fancy bungalow.

Tamasha

Hauz Khas may or may not be every Delhiites favourite hangout spot (given how crowded it has gotten over the years!), but this place has been a backdrop in a lot of Bolly movies! The emotional song 'Agar Tum Saath Ho' was shot at Social in Hauz Khas and also, Ved and Tara reunite in Hauz Khas. A song sequence "Agar Main Kahon" from Hritik Roshan and Priety Zinta starrer Lakshya was also shot at Hauz Khas monument.

The Ranbir Kapoor starrer 2011 film Rockstar had received mixed reactions in the box office, but most of it was shot across the Capital city. Noteworthy among them were Delhi University and the Nizamuddin Dargah, where the song 'Kun Faya Kun' was shot. The scenes of the movie will also take you to many other places in Delhi like Hauz Khas Fort, Greater Kailash, Munirka, Connaught place, Kotla Mubarakpur and parts of St. Stephen's College, Shri Ram College of Commerce and Hindu College.

The iconic historical structure was also the shooting spot for other Bollywood movies like Kurbaan, Fitoor and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

the role of a typical West Delhi girl in this movie and several scenes were shot in Lajpat Nagar and Rajouri Garden.
