The trailer of Badhaai Do, a sequel to Ayushmann Kharan starrer hit film Badhai Ho, was released recently and it seems promising. The film features Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar as Suman Singh and Shardul Thakur, members of the LGBTQ+ community who get married to each to be with their real love interests.
In the pleasant trailer, both the characters, in their 30s, wish to be with their respective love interests. However, they are bound by societal pressure to get married. Rajkummar Rao, who features as a gay cop, upon discovering that Bhumi Pednekar is dating another woman, decides to convince her to get married so that they can live like flatmates and be with the people they wish to be with. The two decide to get married and thus begins a comedy of errors.
Both Rajkummar and Bhumi decide to support each other when it comes to lying to their families or dodging questions about expanding their family. They develop a friendship that is worth cherishing. Given the legacy of emerging socially relevant comedy films, Badhai Do promises to be a fun watch. The casting of Bhumi and Raj, along with Chum Darang(as Suman's girlfriend) is surely exciting.
Moreover, Badhaai Do also features Seema Pahwa, Sheeba Chaddha, Lovleen Mishra, Nitesh Pandey, Shashi Bhushan, and Deepak Arora in pivotal roles.
The movie is produced by Junglee Pictures, Badhaai Do has been directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni, who had earlier directed Gulshan Devaiah's Hunterrr (2015). Its script has been penned by Suman Adhikary and Akshat Ghildial, who had co-written Badhaai Ho.
The film is slated to release in theatres on February 11. It will clash with Shakun Batra's Gehraiyaan, which will release on Amazon Prime Video.
