Green roundabouts to improve the aesthetics of Dwarka

Whenever you happen to pass through the metro corridor of Dwarka, you would see beautiful roundabouts. Some of them have already been converted into a lush green site with fancy grills and the work for the beautification of the others is under way.

The focus is to make these roundabouts greener and beautiful. In some of the roundabouts, a coloured track is also being constructed. As said by one of the officials of DDA, those tracks are being made to give a different look and to give residents of the area an opportunity to take small walks.

The roundabouts at Sector 19, Sector 11, Sector 12, Sector 13, Sector 14 are either already beautified or are under the process. At Sector 14, near Vegas Mall, the work is about to end after almost a year.

RK Meena, Assistant Director Horticulture, DDA, says, "Beautification is not only for greenery but also to improve the aesthetic aspect of the city. Apart from this, we are also going to make the dead patches at the chowk look good. The plantation has already been done at some places."

Residents of the city are appreciating the initiative taken by DDA. Madhu Dagar, a social worker and a resident of Crescent Apartments, Sector 18 says, "Such roundabouts have given a soul to the metro corridors. I hope DDA will also maintain them properly. DDA must connect RWAs and NGOs or even groups of people to take part in keeping the dead patches at the corners of the chowks maintained. This would help in community building and development."

Arvind Rudra, General Secretary of RWA, Harmony Apartments, Sector 4 is also of the opinion that civic authorities must connect RWAs and promote community participation in such works.
