Greater Noida- Three firms fined for negligence in road maintenance

Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Authority has imposed a fine on three private firms for negligence in the maintenance of roads of Greater Noida. Apart from this, show cause notices have also been issued to all three firms for negligence in maintenance works.

AK Arora, Project General Manager, Greater Noida Authority took a tour of Ecotech 6, Ecotech 7, Ecotech 1 Extension One, and 130 meters road in Greater Noida West.  In Ecotech-6 and 7, the curve stones and post fencing were found broken on the roads. Dressing of road tracks and cutting of grass was also not done. Post the tour three firms, namely Om Sai Associates(2 lakhs), and Rs 1 lakh each on Good Enterprises and Navneet Construction were fined.

Arora shared that the maintenance of service road and drains tracks, being done by the three firms were not found satisfactory. The drain track was found in poor condition on a 130 meters wide road. Drains and curve stones were also found damaged in many places. In Ecotech 1 Extension One, on a 60 and 45 meters wide road, curve stone and post fencing were found broken.

The General Manager has also asked two assistant managers of this area to explain this negligence in three days. Along with this, the firms have been warned to be banned if their functioning is not improved.

AK Arora says, "Poor quality execution of any development work will not be tolerated. Quality will be checked by surprise inspection. In case of discrepancy, action will be taken against the concerned contractor as well as the officials of the work circle."

Vikas Katiyar, Vice president of NEFOWA says, a resident of Spring Meadows says, “We face many issues while travelling on the roads of Greater Noida West. The kerbstones are broken, and drains remain unclean. Besides maintenance, the Authority must consider the poor construction quality of roads. The Authority has imposed fines, but things will not improve unless the quality of construction and maintenance is ensured together."

Azeem Khan, a resident of Nirala Estate, Greater Noida West says, “Residents write to the Authority time and again for proper maintenance of the road. Now they have taken action yet poor construction quality should also not be tolerated.”
