Federation of Cooperative Group Housing Societies or FCGHS on October 23 organised a protest against municipal corporation's lackadaisical approach in keeping Dwarka clean. The protest was held at MTNL Chowk. They were joined by about 50 people from RWAs across the sub-city. Various social groups such as Sukh Dukh Ke Sathi (SDKS), Dwarka Lok Kalyan Manch, Pahal and Sahaj Sambhav were also part of the protest.
Protestors formed a human chain and held posters, banners and hoardings while chanting slogans against the municipal corporation and Delhi government.
"This is just the beginning," said Sudha Sinha, general secretary of FCGHS. "We will keep gaining momentum till Dwarka is immaculate. Both South Delhi Municipal Corporation and Delhi government have failed to keep it clean. There will be multiple campaigns from Dwarka societies in the coming weeks."
President of FCGHS, TP Maniappan, was also present at the protest. "We will increase the number of campaigns in the coming months and FCGHS will take lead in all of them."
Vice-president of SDKS and a resident of Sadbhavna Apartments in Sector 22, SS Mann, said it was important that the corporation feels the pressure from Dwarka residents. SDKS secretary and a resident of Chitrakoot Apartments in Sector 22, PB Mishra, showed a circular issued by the corporation as proof of their failure. "This lists their agenda from a few months back," he said, showing the circular. "They have not managed to complete even a single task."
