GreNo West: Vedantam Society residents raise security concerns with ACP

Greater Noida: The residents of Vedantam Society, a group housing society in Greater Noida West, Sector 16C met the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Yogendra Singh on April 7, 2022. During the meeting, residents raised the issue of the lack of security and safety in society. The ACP took immediate action and has directed to issue a notice against the builder.
Residents shared that society has no boundary wall, due to which residents feel unsafe in the society. As per them, cases of theft have also been reported in society. On this subject, Anu Khan, President of NEFOMA says, “There are 6 guards in the whole society. No security guards are deployed at the entrance of the towers. Any stranger can enter society. Cases of theft have been reported before in this society. A tenant’s bullet bike was stolen in A block a few days back."

As per residents, despite paying complete maintenance, the society lacks facilities like CCTV coverage, intercom and fire safety equipment. The unhappy residents demanded action against the builder.

Apart from this, residents share that the society lacks many basic facilities and has maintenance issues. A generator has been installed by the builder, but it always remains defunct. Moreover, electrical equipment keeps getting damaged due to the fluctuation of electricity. The lift also remains defunct.

The residents of Vedantam society had booked their flats in 2010 and 2011. The builder started giving possession in 2018 and about 500 flats have been handed over to the residents till now. However, residents allege that about 400 flats are still incomplete.

AK Sharma, a resident of the flat, says, “there is nothing in the name of basic facilities in the society. We are struggling to get the facilities like gym, club, fire safety, intercom, and CCTV. We feel cheated by giving complete maintenance for an ill-equipped, half incomplete society.”

Kanhaiya Verma Sharma, another resident says, “The society is fraught with seepage. The basement remains filled with water and dampness. Waterlogging can affect the structure of the building. The lift never works.  There is a lot of anger among the residents.”
