Dwarka: On the evening of May 2, 2022, Suman Malik(77), a resident of Youngsters Apartments, Sector 6 was out for a stroll in a neighbourhood park when he was mugged by two robbers. Two men attacked Malik from behind, snatched the money from his front pocket and fled. The incident happened at around 6:30 in the evening.
Though Malik has not filed an official complaint yet, he shared the incidents with his friends and family to make people aware. He says, “I kept the money in the front pocket which was translucent. During my evening walk in the park next to Diamond Square CGHS, Sector 6, two young boys came from behind. One of them grabbed the money and the other one pushed me."
He further says, "Because they were wearing masks, I couldn't identify them. There was also one more person with them. The good thing is I was not injured only my shirt pocket is damaged.”
Malik shared that such incidents often happen in the area. Says he, "Sometimes people report and sometimes they avoid reporting just because they have less faith in police. People don't want to get involved in legal matters and also residents don't trust the police."
Malik says that post-pandemic, such miscreants have become aggressive and the snatching incidents have become relatively common in the area.
