Best K-Dramas and Movies of Gong Yoo!

Our favourite Goblin seems unaffected by age since his revolutionary show 'Drama Coffee Prince'. His charming looks and endearing personality are enough to make someone fall in love with him. He is an A-list actor in South Korea and one of the most recognizable faces of the Korean wave. His shows Coffee Prince and Guardian: The Lonely and Great God is known as a gateway for many K-Drama fans.

The six-foot heartthrob has a long list of movies and dramas, but we have decided to put his best work here.

Train to Busan

Train to Busan was South Korea's first zombie blockbuster, and it made Gong Yoo, an international cinema star after its debut in 2016. He plays a divorced father stranded on a train with his daughter during a zombie outbreak and must save himself and his kid. Train to Busan is an intense and distinctly Korean zombie thriller that will make you scream, laugh, and cry in just two hours (make sure you have plenty of tissues). In interviews, Gong Yoo confessed that he was terrified of the zombie actors while filming, which likely contributed to his believable performance.

Guardian: The Lonely and Great God

In 2016 appearing in three films: A Man and A Woman, Train to Busan, and The Age of Shadows, he returned to television with the romance drama Guardian: The Lonely and Great God. Gong Yoo played Kim Shin, an immortal goblin who has been forced to live for over 900 years against his choice. A world-weary goblin who's cursed to wander the earth until he can find his fated human bride Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun). It remained one of the highest-rated dramas of all time in history. Besides Gong Yoo and his everlasting curse, it also features a cute bromance between him and a grim reaper (Lee Dong Wook). The bromance of Goblin and his grim reaper has another type of comedy and storyline of it.

Coffee Prince

Coffee Prince is one of the classics among all the K-dramas; this Drama turned Gong Yoo into an overnight Korean star. In the Drama, he plays the role of a cafe owner, Choi Han-kyu, who develops a crush on his employee (Go-Eun-Chan, whom he thinks is male, (but in reality, she is a tomboy who hid her identity to get a job in coffee prince) making him question his sexuality. When this drama was aired, Homosexuality was considered taboo in South Korea and the drama was deemed revolutionary. It's a great drama to start with your K journey.

Finding Mr Destiny

Gong Yoo enrolled to complete his necessary military service after finishing Coffee Prince. Then, in 2010, he made his long-awaited film return with Find Mr Destiny, a charming romantic comedy. Seo Ji-woo (I'm Soo-Jung) can't get over her first love, Kim Jong-Wook, in this hilarious rom-com. Her father enlists the services of Han Gi-Joon (Gong Yoo), the head of a matchmaking agency that specializes in finding first loves, in a frantic attempt to locate Mr Kim. While Ji-woo and Gi-Joon scour South Korea for the elusive Kim Jong-Wook, Gi-Joon finds himself falling for his client. Gong Yoo also sang "Second First Love," the film's theme song.

Silenced

This is not a movie for the faint-hearted. Based on actual events, it's a very emotional yet scary picture. Gong Yoo portrays a teacher who discovers the grim reality behind a hearing-impaired school. Gong Yoo again demonstrates his ability to tackle tragic parts in this hefty picture. While the film's substance will shock you, it is a compelling story that will linger with you long after the credits have rolled. Silenced is a South Korean drama film directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk and based on Gong Ji-novel young's The Crucible. At a school for deaf children, a newly assigned teacher (Gong Yoo) uncovers a dark secret between the students and the faculty.

The Silent Sea

This Netflix Original takes place in the future, on a dystopian Earth where water and food are in short supply due to desertification and climate change. A team of elite agents are dispatched on a reconnaissance mission to an abandoned research base on the moon. They are tasked with retrieving mysterious samples that could save humanity. Gong Yoo stars as Han Yoon-Jae, the selfless team leader of the group.
