Dwarka: Seniors Hub Dwarka, a registered NGO set up with the motto of Facilitating Human Connectivity amongst senior citizens, along with HelpAge India, an organization working towards concerns of elders, and the Delhi States Legal Services Authority(DLSA) organised a talk on how to make a will and Maintenance & Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act 2007 at Rashi Apartments’ Community Hall, in sector 7 recently.

RK Jain, President of Seniors Hub Dwarka welcomed Hon’ble Judge Himanshu Sehlot, Rohini Court who is also Secretary, DLSA, Rohini Court.  He also welcomed Shekar Nambiar and Pankaj Kumar from HelpAge India who were the coordinators of this talk.

During the talk, Himanshu Sehlot briefed about the role of DLSA and assured full support to the senior citizens. He then explained in detail salient points of the Maintenance & Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act 2007 and stressed the point that there is a battery of advocates available for counselling senior citizens.  Consultation is free to those senior citizens whose annual increment is Rs 4 lakhs. The helpline number of DLSA, 1516, can be dialled for any assistance/ queries.

He then took up the subject of 'How to make a will' and the importance of registration with Authorities. He mentioned that while registration of a will is not mandatory, it is advisable to register.  He dealt in detail with the benefits of registering the Will. Apart from this, he answered all these questions raised by participating members. Many members have suggested similar sessions in their society premises for the benefit of residents.
