The sudden cave-in of footpaths has become a common sight in Dwarka, especially during monsoons. One such grave scene of a caved-in footpath can be seen at Sanmati Kunj Apartments in sector 6.
According to the president of Sanmati Kunj Apartments, K.K Sharma, the portion of the footpath in front of the society caved in more than two weeks back. Says he, "The damaged area has still not been barricaded by the concerned civic body DDA. This could be dangerous as the sunk portion has a depth of more than five feet."
Sharma has been regularly sharing photographs of the damaged portion in resident WhatsApp groups of the ward which also have officials from civic authorities to gather attention towards this issue. “This is dangerous as sunk portions are very deep. DDA must take it seriously and repair it soon,” says Sharma.
As per several residents, such cave-ins happen on the footpaths which have been made over the main drain. SN Singh, a resident of sector 10 says, “DDA repairs the damaged portion when it happens but there should be a permanent solution."
