Gurugram: The residents of Neelkanth Society of Sector 4, Gurugram, are furious over the monkey menace in their society. Several incidents of monkeys harming people and their properties have come to light lately. The residents demand quick resolution to their issues.

The residents say that the monkeys, in a group of 20 to 25, attack them, especially if they're carrying something to eat. A recent case came to light where a group of monkeys attacked two kids. Their father, Kuldeep Sabharwal shares that his daughters were returning home with their mother. A group of monkeys attacked the kids when they were nearing their homes. Kuldeep says that the kid's mother somehow managed to drive away the monkeys but this could happen again at any time. He says, "My daughters are 1 and 10 years old. Now they are really scared to go out alone."

Not just the kids, according to the residents, the pets are also in trouble. Sobhna Raghav, a resident of Neelkanth says, "When I go for a walk with my pet dog, a group of monkeys is always troubling us. I now avoid going out on walks with my dog because of monkeys."

Residents complain that if they keep something out in sunlight, the monkeys either destroy it or take it with them. Satish Mehta, a resident of Neelkanth Society says, "We kept mango pickle in the sunlight, they broke all the pots and wasted the entire pickle. We have a habit of drying wheat at home, we cannot even do that." He further tells us, "Monkeys throw away the covers and bricks kept on the water tankers when they are thirsty. The covers and the bricks fall on the roads and cars which damage property and cause accidents."

Residents also share that monkeys enter their houses and take food. Amit Sharma, a resident of Neelkanth Society says, "The monkeys dropped a pot on a car in our society. In a previous incident, they destroyed my water pipe."
