Noida: Hepatitis, another disease that is spreading rapidly in between the fearful environment created by Monkeypox and Corona. Suspected cases of Hepatitis are rising in Noida for the last 2 months. Cityspidey reached out to the District hospital, Noida to know the ground reality.

According to the data given from May 13, 2022, to July 29, 2022, 121 positive cases of Hepatitis have been found. Over the past 75 days in the district, nearly thirty thousand patients who became ill by eating contaminated water and food were suspected of Hepatitis.

In this way, about 300-400 suspected cases are coming out every day. Samples are being sent to Meerut Medical College for their examination. Based on the symptoms, the number of patients with Hepatitis A and E is said to be more than 50 per cent, while the rest are infected with Hepatitis B and C.

The rising graph of Hepatitis A and E are a matter of concern for people. Gastro OPDs in hospitals are almost full of patients. Nevertheless, patients get cured in some time by taking bed rest and timely medicines, a nutritious diet, and drinking water wisely. Food products sold in the open must be avoided.

For the identification and treatment of patients, guidelines have been provided on the website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

At the district level, patients suspected of Hepatitis can visit the joint hospital located in sector-30. Meerut Medical college has been made the nodal treatment centre for the treatment of Hepatitis patients. Samples are being sent to Meerut Medical College for examination of suspected patients since May 13. It takes around 10-15 days for the report to come from Meerut to Noida after examining the samples.

Ashok Shukla, a health expert from the district hospital says, "Hepatitis is a common viral infection. Besides, Hepatitis can cause other probable viral infections. These include autoimmune Hepatitis and Hepatitis that is brought on by the result of prescribed medications, toxins, drugs, and alcohol. When your body produces antibodies against your liver tissue, you develop the illness known as autoimmune Hepatitis."

He also mentions that there are mainly five types of hepatitis caused by different viruses: Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E. Each kind of viral Hepatitis is caused by a distinct virus.
