Dwarka- Planting trees is the only way that can reverse the ill effects of climate change. Sukh Dukh Ke Sathi Sanstha, a social organisation of senior citizens has led several community-led plantation programs. The group has planted about 500 in 2022. They have also taken efforts toward the maintenance of green spaces in Dwarka.

SDKS organised three plantation programs in and around the cremation ground of Sector 24. They are now on a mission to make this area green. Capt SS Mann, President Sukh Dukh Ke Sathi says, "We had planted some trees of Banyan and peepal outside the boundary of the cremation ground last year. Upon visiting, we saw that they were being damaged by animals due to inadequate protection. We requested the authorities to provide tree guards for their protection but since our requests were turned down, we hired 19 tree guards."

Besides, a cleanliness drive was also carried out with the support of MCD at the cremation ground to tidy the area and make it plastic-free. All garbage collected was disposed of mindfully. A function was organised in this connection on September 16, 2022. Many Dwarkrites attended it and appreciated the efforts of SDKS.

Kamaljeet Sehrawat also graced the occasion and promised all possible help in the future. Capt SS Mann directed area police officers to visit the site regularly for the safety of trees. He also thanked the Gurdwara committee for extending full cooperation to make the program a success.
