In the last few years, Ravan dahan on Vijayadashmi has become a much loved and trending event in Dwarka.  Apart from the significant event at Sector 10 by Dwarka Sri Ramlila Committee and at Sector 11 by the Association of Social and Cultural Events, societies and RWAs are also burning the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkarna and Meghnath. The trend of burning the effigies is increasing in the community of the sub-city year after year. RWAs and managing committees of the DDA pockets and Cooperative Group Housing Societies respectively, are now organising Ravan dahan inside the society premises or on any vacant land near the society.

At Sector 10 the Ramlila will be concluded with the burning of effigies of Ravana on October 5, 2022. According to Ramlila Committee, here, the largest effigy of Ravana in Dwarka which is 95 feet would be burnt. There would be effigies of Kumbhkarn of 85 feet,  Meghnath of 75 feet and also a special effigy of Corona of 60 feet would be burnt.  Apart from this a golden Lanka of 30 feet in height will also be burnt on the day of Ravan Dahan. “This would be one of the centres of attractions this year's Dusshera celebration, ” says the Chief patron of Dwarka Sri Ramlila Committee, and Ex-MLA of the area, Rajesh Gehlot.  To reach the Sector 10 Ramlila Ground in order to see Ravan Dahan one can take the metro to Sector 10 or Sector 11 and then walk to the ground.

At Sector 11 Ravan dahan is being done by the Association of Social and Cultural Events. According to Mukesh Sinha from the organising committee, the height of the Ravan effigy which would be put up here is going to be 80 feet. Similarly at Sector 13 at Bal Ramlila ground a 70 feet high Ravan would be set to fire on Vijayadashmi.

For Sector 11 Ramlila ground one can take the metro to Sector 11 Metro station and walk to the ground or can take a rickshaw. For Sector 13, the setor 13 metro station is the nearest and at a walkable distance.

Apart from such Ravan dahan by the Ramlila Committees, community people in small and big groups, management of the cities and also the RWAs are going to organise Ravan dahan in their society park or any vacant land near their societies.

President of Federation of RWAs (FORWAS) of Sector 9 Advocate KS Bhati says, “ This year many new societies have planned to organise Ravan dahan as the community has anger against terrorism. People want to remove this evil from the country.” Also in other Sectors such as 13, 14,15,8,7,6 and 3, Ravan dahan is being organised at the society level. RWA of Radhika Apartments, Sector 14 is organising Ravan dahan event at the vacant land of DDA just in front of the society. President of the community Surendra Mishra says, “We have started working upon our event. Order for the effigies has been given. This would be a grand post-Covid show for our society and we are happy to organise this.”
