Dwarka: Worms found in tap water in Pragatisheel apartments

Residents of Pragatisheel Apartments, Sector 11 are concerned as their tap water supply has been infested by worms. Residents allege that this was not a one-time incident but worms have been seen in the water supply for a few months now. This water is used for drinking purposes as well as for household use. Residents highlight that they have complained to the Delhi Jal Board about the issue and are waiting for a solution.

Residents allege that the water tank has been cleaned entirely a few times now in the past months since the worm started appearing visible but the problem still persists. They are now finding it difficult to live with this issue anymore. Amit Arora, a resident of Pragatisheel Apartments,  says, "Though no serious health problems have been reported yet that doesn't dismiss the fact that this water is harmful to health. Moreover, it is disgusting to see worms in the water. It can cause serious health hazards if consumed by chance.”

According to people not only worms but also some soil and black floating tiny balls like eggs of mosquitoes too have been spotted in the water. Shyam Khandelwal, 54, another resident says, "The water is not only dirty but also has a foul smell. We have complained to Delhi Jal Board but no actions have been taken yet."

Residents are completed to buy water from the market for drinking. The residents have been advised to use tap water after proper filtration and boiling only if they use it.

Maya Khandelwal, 52, the Vice President of management of the society says, "We have 74 houses in our society and every house is facing this problem. Though no one has reported serious health issues by consuming this water yet there have been cases of dehydration."

CitySpidey also tried to contact the officials of the Delhi Jal Board regarding the matter but could not get through. We will update the story once we gather their comments.
