Delhi: More than 300 cyclists came together for a tribute event organised in honour of Shubhendu Banerjee, a 50 old cyclist from Gurugram who lost his life in a road accident last Sunday.
The untimely death of Shubhendu Banerjee has been a tragic incident for the cycling community in Delhi NCR. Once again, it has raised questions about the state of cycling infrastructure in Delhi NCR. Subhendu was riding his sports bicycle in the Vasant Kunj area on November 27, 2022, when he was hit by a BMW car.
Hundreds of cyclists from various cycling groups across Delhi NCR gathered at Mysore Cafe, Teen Murti marg area, Delhi around 7:30 am. The cyclists paid tribute to Shubhendu and discussed the state of infrastructure for cyclists, safety measures such as how to be more visible on the road etc. A 2-minute silence was also observed for Subhendu.
