Mahavir Jayanti: Dwarka celebrates Mahavir Janmakalyanak Mahotsav

Dwarka: Jain community of Dwarka Mahavir Janmakalyanak Mahotsav today on the occasion of the birth of a great Tirthankara of Jainism Vardhaman Mahavir. He is known to be a teacher who propagates the dharma in Jainism. This festival is being celebrated today, April 4, 2023. 

In Dwarka, this Mahotsav was celebrated today at Adinath Bhagwan Jain Mandir, Sector 12, Dwarka. On the occasion, the Jain community organised a grand shobhyatra in which hundreds of male and female participated.

The idol of Lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankar was consecrated in the rath which was manually pulled by both male and female devotees. The shobhayatra route was around 3 kilometres long started from Jain Mandir via Anant Apartment, Sector 4, Ashirwad Chowk, KM Chowk, Sector 12, Bensup Hospital, Sector 12 Bal Bharti School, Sector 12 Shree Hospital, Sector 12 and back to that Jain Mandir. Around 300 Jain devotees participated in the shobhayatra and kept dancing and singing to the tunes of Jain bhajans. All female devotees were dressed in yellow or Kesariya sarees while all male devotees were dressed in white kurta- payjamas.
