Walnut's distinct aroma and taste make it a perfect ingredient for desserts. Walnuts are rich in heart-healthy fats and antioxidants. Consuming walnuts every day can improve brain health and reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer. We generally used walnuts in cakes or tarts in the past. But this World walnut day, let's get a little more creative and use them in savoury dishes.

Candied Walnuts

Caramelized walnut make a delightful snack and a simple yet delectable cake decoration. Traditionally, you'd boil sugar and water until the sugar dissolves, add your nuts, and stir until everything turns golden. This will take some time and a lot of effort. However, this recipe is a fantastic time-saver. Toss everything into a skillet and toast the walnuts while cooking a simple caramel sauce. Pour everything onto a prepared baking pan once the sugar has melted and the nuts have been coated, then do your best to separate the nuts so they can cool and solidify.

We know how quick and easy it is to microwave a bowl of instant oats, but trust me when we say that this homemade oatmeal recipe is well worth the extra effort, and when we say "additional time," it means 5 minutes on the stovetop! When everything is cooked and creamy, top with walnuts and a sprinkle of cinnamon and serve. Alternatively, the candied walnuts mentioned earlier would be fantastic in this dish.

Persian Pomegranate and Walnut Chicken

Pomegranate in a savoury dish is not very pleasing to someone's eye, but the pomegranate bits here look like a fantastic splash of fresh sweetness. Furthermore, they are lovely. Although this Persian Pomegranate and Walnut Chicken sounds elegant, it doesn't appear difficult to prepare. Because the chicken is slow-cooked, it will be remarkably delicate and have absorbed all of the great spices and flavours.

Pumpkin bread is one of my favourite fall treats since it's moist, spiced, and full of flavour. Brown sugar crumbles on top, and plenty of dark chocolate chips inside are my favourites. It becomes even more delicious when you add a large handful of chopped walnuts. We recommend keeping the walnuts reasonably large so that the bread does not seem overly seedy.

Walnut Pesto and Zucchini Pizza

We don't get pizzas with bases other than tomato too often, but I'm willing to give it a go. The walnut pesto on pizza seems delicious and straightforward and is a healthy option when you crave pizza. People always keep Pesto on hand since it can come in handy. It may be used as a chicken rub or a quick pasta sauce.

Honey and Walnut Tart

This Honey and Walnut Tart is ideal for sweet tooths and would be fantastic with a dollop of heavy cream or ice cream on top. The walnuts will be exceptionally crisp and nutty since they've been toasted before being added to the pie, creating the perfect contrast with the soft, sweet honey filling.

Walnut Brownies

Brownies, in my opinion, are the ideal baked dessert. They're delicious, whether cakey, fudgy, packed with nuts, topped with ganache, or served warm with ice cream. Sweet and nutty roasted walnuts abound in these brownies. With each bite, you will get a host of flavours. Walnuts can addy an exciting crunchy texture to your otherwise soft brownies.
