Parsvnath Majestic Floors sets up its own wall of kindness

What was started in Iran is slowly becoming a trend in Indirapuram societies, with more and more people donating to the needy.

A simple act that started in Iran is now popular in Indirapuram societies. After Gaur Green City, residents of Parsvnath Majestic Floors have set up a wall of kindness.

Neki ki deewar, or the wall of kindness, is an initiative in which people are encouraged to donate useful things to the needy.

Suman Bisht, a resident of the society, along with her fellow members from Lioness Club Indirapuram, started the initiative on January 26. The group has put up a banner right next to the society gates, which says: "Leave if you do not need and take if you need." Clothes donated by residents are neatly folded in piles on a stone ledge below it. The initiative has seen 20-25 underprivileged collecting donated clothes every day.

"We had to restrict people from taking more than two items, as we wanted everybody to benefit from the donations," said Bisht. "We have urged residents to donate whatever they can — shoes, clothes, winterwear, anything."

"It was nice to see rickshawpullers collecting saris for their wives," said a security guard from the society.

Bisht said she had removed the banner for now, as she wanted the wall of kindness to be a more permanent feature. "We are planning to paint a part of the wall to identify it as the wall of kindness," said Bisht.
