It was inaugurated on April 9, in Sector 15, Part 2, and will have facilities for both learners and seasoned players.
Gurgaon now has a shooting club! It opened in Sector 15, Part 2, on April 9.
The club was inaugurated by Balvinder Kaur, managing committee member of Pilot Court in Essel Towers, MG Road. Her son, Parth Pal, is a national-level shooter.
At the club, seasoned players can practise on any range, and newcomers, too, can learn shooting.
Kaur told City Spidey, “The club has opened up opportunities for youngsters to learn the game. Earlier, the players had to go to Delhi or Faridabad. Now they can practise right here. My son has won several medals in shooting at the district level and played at the national level too. But he had to go to Delhi for practice. A lot of young aspirants opt out of the game due to non-availability of a shooting club in the vicinity.”
Pal said, “This is a good chance for youngsters to make a career in shooting. We had to face many difficulties because there was no shooting club in the city. I hope many youngsters from the club will play for the country and bag medals as Abhinav Bindra did in 2008 Olympics. I am also trying for the 2020 Olympics.”
GL Sharma, a resident of Sector 15, Part 2, told City Spidey, “We are happy that a shooting club has opened in our sector. Shooting is known as an elite-class game. But with the opening of this club, I feel middle-class kids, too, can make their career in this — perhaps even win medals for the country. In fact, this was one of the longstanding demands of the residents.”
Coach and club director Pravindra Kumar said, “We want to train as many players as we can for shooting. Our target is to bring in medals from international tournaments. The fee structure is yet to be decided but it will be different for learners and players.”
