Noida: Parents to soon be part of the fee-regulating process

After a series of protests led by parents of Noida and Greater Noida, NP Singh, the district magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar, on April 23 ordered all CBSE and ICSE schools to form a five-member committee to look into fee hikes.

The committee is to have one CA and one representative each from the parents and the school, and one representative from the district administration. It will work under the district magistrate (DM) and the district inspector of school (DIOS).

This committee, to be called the School Bar Committee, will ensure transparency in fee structure.

The order also states that if any school hikes its fee for any facility, the authorities have to inform parents a year before the implementation.

The DM told City Spidey that if a school wanted to hike its fees, it would have to get the committee's sanction. If it refused to follow the DM’s directive, he would write to the UP government to get the school’s NOC nullified.

He added, “We don’t have a time frame for the formation of the committee, but it will be implemented by this session.”
