The managing committee of Jhelum Apartments, in Sector 5, Dwarka, with the help of Rise Foundation, a social organisation, organised a workshop on solid waste management today.

Madhuri Varshney, a social activist working on the concept, was also present at the workshop. Varshney gave a presentation on the subject and demonstrated simple ways to manage waste effectively. She cited examples of the societies successful in implementing the concept and encouraged residents to embrace the idea. She also volunteered to help set up a system in the society.

The society's children participated in a competition in which they had to use dry waste to create something of use. They were also given prizes for their efforts.

Rajvinder Singh, the present of the managing committee, told City Spidey that a notice would be put up on the society's notice board on May 8, formally informing residents to support the concept at the apartment level.

The waste management work shop held on 7th May. Was an appreciable step to maintain our environment healthy and stop it's deterioration.how our small contribution from home can change and strengthen the environmental conditions. The efforts put by Ms Madhuri varshnay and Ms Geeta to explain in a very simple way and make it effective ,was very much appreciable . I also appreciate the extra ordinary interest shown by Ms Bambra and Ms Mudgil in arranging such a valuable work shop.Hope all the residents of Jhelum will join their hands to make it a grand success in a expected manner. With all the Best wishes
