Noida: Fee committee report leaves parents baffled!

The report of the district administration’s committee on the high handedness by private schools has left the parents confused and wondering about the next step. The fee committee formed by the district administration submitted its report to the district magistrate on May 11.

The district administration, thereafter, declared that further investigation and action will be initiated by the state and central government alone.

Sachin Soni, secretary of ASPA (All School Parents’Association) told City Spidey that the decision has thrown parents into greater confusion and distress. “We were hopeful of swift action on the part of the district administration. After much waiting, the administration has come up with a confused response, saying the rules that have been violated don’t come under the purview of the local administration. If rules are being violated, the administration has to act on it,” he reacted angrily.

Speaking to City Spidey, Rajesh Yadav, ADM, finance and revenue — who was appointed as the head of the investigation committee — told City Spidey that the district administration does not have the right to take action in case of violations of the circulars or bylaws of the CBSE. “The laws are advisory in nature, and can be acted upon by the CBSE alone,” he explained.

He added, “The district administration has written to the CBSE regarding violations in the bylaws — and the CBSE needs to act in this regard. As for the violations in the NOCs, letters have been written to the commissioner of Meerut zone for taking action.”

Shivani Jain from ASPA told City Spidey that parents’ representatives are also planning to meet the commissioner of Meerut zone over the issue. “There are several issues pertaining to acquisition of land from the GDA. These could certainly have been dealt by the local administration,” stressed Jain

The parents’ association has submitted a letter to the district administration to ensure that the schools don’t bother the parents over the fee issue until the state government comes up with a solution.

However, a faction of parents has raised demands for making the committee’s report public and accessible. They have also threatened the  district administration with a hunger strike.
