The draft, called Vendor Zone Policy, has been sent to the UP government for approval. According to it, there will be earmarked space for vendors outside residential and industrial sectors.
In a bid to remove vendors and squatters from roadsides, Noida Authority has come up with a new Vendor Zone Policy, which has now been sent to the UP government for approval.
An official of Noida Authority said that under the scheme, there’ll be earmarked space for vendors outside residential and industrial sectors.
“Vendors will not be allowed to either sell or transfer the space allotted to them to anyone else. They would also not be permitted to make any kind of construction in the allotted area. They will also not be allowed to shift their place of business," the official added.
Saumaya Srivastava, deputy chief executive officer of Noida Authority, told City Spidey, “We have studied the vendor policies of several cities, and we have made the draft after conducting a study. We have sent the draft to the UP government. Once approved, the committee will look into creating zones and select vendors accordingly,” he added.
When City Spidey spoke to Shiv Kumar, a vendor in Sector 15, he said, “It would be good if Noida Authority allocated a permanent space to me, from where I could run my business without fear of the district administration and the local police.”
