Garbage, rains and stink... could it get any worse for Dwarka!

The corporation claims to be getting the garbage lifted, but the ground reality has a different story to tell.

Garbage, rains and stink... could it get any worse for Dwarka! Sector 14

Every monsoon, it’s the same story... unattended garbage has the entire city stinking!

Though the corporation claims it is getting garbage lifted from the roadsides, the ground reality is entirely different.

Residents are sharing photographs with corporation officials and on various WhatsApp groups, but no change has be witnessed.

A resident of Sector 12, TP Singh, said, “The most planned sub-city is facing a huge crisis as far as garbage management is concerned. The corporation is doing nothing in this direction. If they claim they’re doing something, the results are certainly not showing! All the dumping spots are full, and after the rains, the whole city is stinking.”

This is what Sector 4 looks like!

The worst affected sectors include 7, 8, 2, 12, 14, 16 and others.

A resident of Shruti Apartments in Sector 7, Anurag Bhel, complained, “This is pathetic... the dumping sites are full. Moreover, the workers leave the sludge from the drains on the sides of the roads. This is negligence on the part of the authority. The corporation should act now!”

A resident of Skylark Apartments, Sector 6, Shameera Ashroff, agreed.

A resident of Kautilya Apartments, Sector 14, Shob Nath Ram, said to City Spidey, “The corporation has been very casual — and callous — in its approach. This garbage dumping site near our society is almost full. For the last one month, garbage was lifted only once. There’s horticulture waste as well.”

When City Spidey spoke to SDMC officials, they said garbage is being lifted regularly, but the quantity has become unmanageable for a handful of workers. There’s a dire need to strengthen the existing system of garbage management, they added.
