Compressor burst in Amrapali Zodiac market leaves eight injured

A serious incident of  fire was reported from the market of Amrapali Zodiac, a residential society in Sector 120, Noida. The incident took place around 8.30 pm, when the deep freezer compressor at Handi restaurant burst. 

Eight staffers of the restaurant sustained burn injuries. Four of them are said to be seriously injured and have been rushed to the nearby Tripathi Hospital, in Sector 119, Noida, for treatment. 

When the compressor burst, they were inside the restaurant and got skin burns due to the blast of the compressor.  

According to residents of Amraplai Zodiac, the compressor burst due to electricity voltage fluctuations. 

Jogindra Singh, an eyewitness, said they came out of their homes on hearing the blast of the compressor. He said, “We quickly rushed to rescue the staff and were pouring water to douse the fire. Though the fire department had also deployed fire tenders, till the time it reached the incident site, the situation had been brought under control.” 

Another resident, Gaurav Kumar, said that he saw fire tenders entering his society. He, too, came out of his home to enquire about the incident.

Avnish Dixit, SO of the Phase III police station, said, "The blast happened in the kitchen. The compressor of the freezer blew up, leaving eight injured. There are burn injuries on their legs, hands and other parts of the body."

"The fire department will do an inquiry of their own into the incident," Dixit added.

Anil Grihwal, owner of Handi restaurant, said he would help his staff in every way he could. "This was an accident, and just a case of very bad luck," he added.
