Yesterday on Holi, the Delhi traffic police penalised over 9,000 commuters for traffic violations. Out of these, nearly 2,000 commuters were booked for drunk driving. According to official sources, South Delhi alone had 608 cases.
The police also booked 4,634 two-wheeler riders for not wearing helmets. On the other hand, 1,164 were fined for tripling on two-wheelers. A total of 1,589 people were booked for other traffic and road safety violations.
