It is now to be seen if Anna’s clout will work in their favour.

Over 20,000 homebuyers of Noida and Greater Noida are going to be part of an indefinite protest by Anna Hazare against corruption and the government’s apathy towards the appointment of a strong Lok Pal. On Friday, the protest march will start at  Shaheed Park and end at Ramlila Ground.

Speaking to City Spidey, Dinesh Singh, a member of Anna’s team said the exact agenda of the protest was discussed in the course of a meeting today. “Until now only homebuyers of Amrapali and JP Group had said that they would be part of our protest. Now we are urging the homebuyers of other residential projects (who are struggling for possession) to join us,” informed Singh. Infact at the time of filling this report, some homebuyers from Supertech and Unitech too have confirmed participation.

He went on to state that the plight of homebuyers is not much different from the farmers of our country. “They are all victims of corruption at the hands of government officials, bureaucrats and businessmen,” said Singh.

The buyers are confident that with Anna’s support they would ultimately manage to get a redressal from the government. “At the time of elections, both the central and state government had promised us that they would intervene and ensure that our flats are delivered by the developers. However, their promises have fallen apart. We are also going to protest against this failure,” said Pramod Kumar a homebuyer.

In the words of another buyer, “We have staged numerous indefinite protests before the offices of the real estate developers and politicians. However, we failed to achieve our objective. However, we are hopeful that this time we shall be successful.”
