AAP-LG fight intensifies over CCTV project: Delhi CM Kejriwal sits on dharna Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal with his cabinet colleagues

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with his cabinet colleagues and AAP MLAs sat on a dharna outside Lt Governor Anil Baijal’s residence on Monday while protesting against the latter’s decision to form a panel to frame guidelines for the CCTV project.

Initially, they had gone to meet the LG but were informed by the LG office that only the cabinet ministers would be allowed to meet him.

Kejriwal however appealed to the LG to meet the MLAs as they were the elected representatives of the people.

“LG is refusing to meet the MLAs. We want him to meet all of us including MLAs,” Kejriwal tweeted.

Installing 10 lakh CCTV cameras in the city to ensure security of women was one of the key poll promises of AAP.

Kejriwal alleged that the BJP does not want the Delhi government’s project to be executed and therefore, was trying to hinder it through the LG.

“The committee set up by the LG is very dangerous. It has been set up to stall the CCTV project.” Kjeirwal said in another tweet.

On Sunday, Delhi LG had written to Kejiriwal saying that it was unfortunate that the public and media were being misled on the issue repeatedly and deliberately. Responding to his letter, Kejriwal questioned the LG as to why he is politicising the issue of women safety.
