Work on road connecting Noida-Greater Noida bridge starts after long wait

The Noida Authority has started long-pending construction work of road connecting the bridge in Noida and Greater Noida across the Hindon River.

An official of Noida Authority said that construction work on this bridge was started in October 2014 and was completed in March 2016.

“The Authority was not able to build a one-kilometre road and that is why the opening of the bridge has been delayed. The Noida Authority failed to procure the land from farmers to build the road. Now, the Authority has bought the land and the construction work has commenced,” the official said.

"In February, chairman and chief executive officer Alok Tandon conducted an inspection in the area where the bridge was located and asked the staffs to solve the problem by procuring required land from the farmers. After several meetings between the officials of Noida Authority and farmers, the authority was able to purchase the land,” the official added.

This bridge is located between Greater Noida’s Sector-1/4 and Noida’s Sector-118/122. The eight-lane bridge is 28 metres wide and it connects Noida’s Phase-2, Sectors 121, 122, 84, 74, 73, 77, 78 and 79 with Greater Noida’s sectors 1, 4 and 16A. This bridge was built by the Noida and Greater Noida Authorities at a combined cost of Rs 50 crore.

A senior project engineer Samakant Srivastava told City Spidey that they were successful in purchasing the 1-km land four days back and now the construction work has been started. “Initial work started and we have started constructing the base of the road by filling the soil,” Srivastava added.

"We are hoping that the construction work of the road will be completed before December and we want to open the bridge for the commuters in the coming year,” Srivastava added.

Amit Gupta said that people will find it easy to go to Greater Noida once the bridge will be inaugurated. This bridge also addresses traffic congestion issues that are witnessed on the Noida-Greater Noida west road.
