Unhappy with the security arrangement in their apartments, residents of Panchsheel Primrose Society, in Govindpuram, Ghaziabad, staged a protest against the builder on Tuesday.

Residents said the security arrangements are a mere formality. Neeraj Singh, a resident, said, “There have been thefts in the society, but the builder has still not done anything to improve the security measures in place.”

There are 11 towers in Panchsheel Primrose Society, with about 900 families living in them. Residents said that the number of CCTV cameras installed in the society is not enough and that the security staff allows visitors to enter the society without logging entry or exit details. They said the builder had promised to deploy more than 50 security guards but only 30 are on duty. Many of them are minors.

Anil Tiwari, another resident, said, “The builder does not want to hand over the management of the society to us and is opposing the creation of an RWA here.”

Ajay Verma, deputy general manager of the estate department of the society, said that the top management has been informed of the residents’ concerns and that the head office would soon take a decision about the demands.
