The victim was a first-year student of Bachelor of Technology at Amity University.
A 25-year-old student of Amity University allegedly committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in his house in Amrapali Sapphire society in Noida’s Sector 45 on Monday night.
The victim was a first-year student of Bachelor of Technology. The police did not recover any suicide note from the spot.
According to the police, the man has been identified as Utkarsh Shukla, from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. He was currently living in a rented flat in Amrapali Sapphire along with his two friends.
Shukla was reportedly alone in the flat at the time of the incident, said the police.
Prashant Kapil, Station House Officer (SHO) at Sector 39 police station, said, “Utkarsh’s flat-mates had gone out and when they returned home at around 10.30 pm, they found the house locked from inside. When no one answered despite multiple attempts, they called the security guards who broke down the door and found Utkarsh hanging from a fan in his room.”
Kapil further added that Utkarsh’s friends were the one who informed the police helpline. “But before a team could reach the spot, they took him to Jaypee Hospital nearby where he was declared dead on arrival. We later informed Utkarsh’s family who arrived in Noida on Tuesday,” said the SHO.
He said that no suicide note was found from the flat. “However, after speaking to his family and friends, it appears that Utkarsh was under some stress because of his academics. This could be the reason why he took the extreme step,” Kapil said.
The police further added that the family has not filed any complaint. They have even refused for an autopsy, so the body has been handed over to them, said police.
