An interactive health session on “How to take care of eyes as you age” was organised on Wednesday in Dwarka by voluntary organization, Seniors Hub Dwarka, in association with Centre for Sight.

The session was attended by around 50 senior citizens. Acclaimed ophthalmologists from across the city talked about eye problems associated with ageing and their treatment. They also made people aware about age-related macular degeneration – a leading cause of vision loss in adults over age 50.

The discussion revolved around the symptoms and preventive and remedial measures for the disease, followed by a question-answer session. Specialist Dr (Wg Cdr) Sapna Raina gave a presentation on the subject and made senior citizens aware about the ailment and its treatment.

RK Jain, president of Seniors Hub Dwarka, chaired the session. Ravi Jaitely, general secretary of Seniors Hub, said, “It was quite an eye opening session for most of us, including me, on how to take care of our eyes with age. We are planning more such awareness programmes on different topics for seniors citizens in the coming months.”
