The police said that one of them is a goldsmith who purchased stolen jewellery from the others.
Noida police on Friday arrested five men for allegedly robbing houses and stealing valuables.
According to the police, the gang broke open doors of houses while their occupants were away and stole jewellery and other valuables.
Of the five arrested, one is a goldsmith who purchased stolen jewellery from the others, said the police.
Those arrested include – Sonu, Raja, Alam, Bittu and Viay Soni. The police have registered a case under sections 457 and 380 of the IPC at phase-II police station and have started further investigation.
The accused have been booked for robberies that happened in the past in houses in sectors 82 and 93 in Noida.
According to the police, the accused broke open the door of the houses and robbed the place. They have recovered three gold rings, three gold chains and two earrings (worth Rs 2.5 lakh) and 225 euros from the gang.
FA Pundir, station house officer with phase-II police station, Noida, said that besides the valuables, a lock cutter, which is used to break open the doors, was also recovered from them. He told that out of the five arrested, one is a goldsmith, who purchased stolen jewellery from the others. All five have been sent to jail.
