GreNo West: Residents file complaint against malls' debris lying on road

Hassled with the rampant construction activities for malls in the Greater Noida West area, a group of residents lodged a formal complaint with the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

They produced visual evidences of the illegal construction activities which are in violation of the pollution control norms.

In their mail, the residents apprised NGT about the encroachment on the service lanes as construction materials and debris are lying there. They also brought to the fore the other violations such as no water sprinkling on sites and absence of green net covers at the sites.

The residents alleged that builders are flouting all the pollution norms. The mud caused by the construction debris on the services roads is affecting the smooth movement of vehicles as well as contributing to dust pollution greatly. The road that they were referring was in Sector 16B.

They demanded strict actions against the builders including heavy fines to persuade them to comply with the pollution control norms. Other demands included the cleaning of debris from the services roads.

Residents also asked for proper repair of the roads after the cleaning to settle the issue. They were vocal against the high dust pollution in the area and suggested plantation of more trees in the area.

Greater Noida West is currently among the most polluted areas in Delhi-NCR with very high PM10 content in the air.
