Here’s some good news for residents in Gurgaon. The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has decided to give a rebate of 10 per cent in property tax if the entire due amount is paid this week.
The discount will be applicable for the financial year 2016-17 and property owners of the district can pay the tax from 7 am to 7 pm during the week.
TL Satya Prakash, MCG commissioner, said that the decision was taken to encourage property owners in the district to come forward and pay the bill without any hassles. “There are a large number of office-goers in the city who own properties. They do not have time to come at the municipal office during their office hours and pay the tax. Office-goers can use Sundays, or morning and evening hours for it,” he said.
Gurgaon residents are appreciating the civic agency’s decision as a large number of them have not paid the property tax due to clash of timings with their office hours.
Shalini Sharma, a resident of S-block of Uppal Southend, situated on Sohna Road, said, “The civic agency's decision to give extra time will help us finish work and go to the MCG office to pay the tax either in the mornings or evenings after office hours. The discount of ten per cent is also encouraging.”
