Garima Agarwal, a resident of Antariksh Greens, a high-rise in Ahinsa Khand II, has been selected for the final showdown of AIWA Mrs India contest.
A 41-year old woman from Indirapuram is all set to make the area proud by making her way in the finale of a prestigious beauty pageant contest which will be held in Mumbai next month. Garima Agarwal, a resident of Antariksh Greens, a high-rise in Ahinsa Khand II, has been selected for the final showdown of AIWA Mrs India contest.
Garima originally hails from Lucknow and has been living in Indirapuram for the last seven years with her family. She lives with her husband and two daughters. “The elder one is 15-years old while the younger one is 10-years old,” she said. Her husband, Ankur Agarwal, works as an engineer in a private firm, while she looks after the home.
On being asked about competing in the contest, she said that it was her friends who encouraged her to do so. “I am quite serious about my fitness and have a toned body. My friends suggested me to participate in beauty contests organised for married women. I never took their suggestion very seriously but one day when I got to know about this beauty contest, I recalled their words and told them about this. They all encouraged me. I discussed with my husband as well. He too supported me. Then without any further thoughts, I sent my portfolio. To my surprise, I’m one of the finalists now,” she said.
However, this field is not new for her. “I have done modelling during my graduation. Later, when my parents disapproved it, I joined an NGO and worked there for several years before getting married. However, Garima now aims to fulfil her pre marriage goal. “If an opportunity comes, I will definitely give it a shot,” she said.
Besides, Garima would also like to immerse herself again in social work. “After migrating to a different city post marriage I got involved in social work. Later, the responsibility of children also came so I could not pursue it. But now since my children have grown up and can take care of themselves, therefore I can restart my work in social welfare,” she said.
Garima is preparing hard for her finale. She is taking yoga and fitness classes from her friend to show it as a skill in talent round. Her daughters are most excited with this surprising development. “They both are very happy that I am selected for a beauty pageant finale and excited to watch me wearing the crown of Mrs World. Hope I live up to their expectations,” she said.
“Besides, my relatives are super excited as no-one in the family has done anything in the field of beauty and entertainment," Garima added.
