Udaygiri II: Feeling powerless

Several sectors of Noida, which claims to be a "no power-cut zone", are having a tough time with hours-long power cuts for about a month now. Udaygiri II Apartments in Sector 34 is one such society.

Residents say that on average, power cuts occur at least seven to eight times a day, with no electricity supply for six to eight hours.

No wonder even double-battery inverters are rendered useless in such cases.

The power cuts have also adversely affected water supply in households. The situation is so bad that residents are left with no option but to buy drinking water to quench their thirst.

Laxmi Sharma, a resident of Udaygiri II Apartments, told City Spidey that milk and vegetables kept in refrigerators are also going bad due to the long power cuts.

PK Garg, project engineer of Noida Authority, when contacted by City Spidey, said that he had not received any complaints from residents yet. "Unless we receive a complaint from either residents or the RWA, we can't do anything about this," he added.

Now that's strange. Udaygiri II, make that complaint now!
