Delhi govt plans location-specific staggered timings at busy office hubs

Delhi government has planned an arrangement under which different offices will have different timings at busy business and office hubs. It was planned with an intention to combat heavy traffic congestion and air pollution in the metropolitan city.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday met experts to discuss ways to implement location-specific staggered office timings in the national capital.

The new arrangement might be put in place at busy office hubs such as Connaught Place, ITO, Karol Bagh, Nehru Place, Lajpat Nagar and Sarojini Nagar

As per sources, offices will be asked to operate different timings instead of common timing of 9 am to 5 pm at a particular business hubs.

Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said that the staggered office timing will start from November 4. It is the same day when when the odd-even road rationing scheme will be launched in Delhi.

Gehlot said that changed timings will be implemented at both the government and private offices in the city.

For the new arrangement, the traffic police and transport department have begun survey to identify major choke points and congested arterial roads.
