It was an occasion to reckon with. Along with health checkup camp, there were recreational activities like and laughter Yoga and poetry recitation etc. lined up exclusively for the elders. 

It was an event, Aashirwad, organised by the Delhi Police, in collaboration with Apeejay Campus, at Apeejay Dwarka Campus Auditorium, for senior citizens of Dwarka on the occasion of International Elders’ Day. The gala event was a befitting tribute to the elders for all their contribution to the society. 

More than 550 Nana Nani and Dada Dadi (grandparents) turned up for the event and took part in all the activities with a zeal that was never seen before in the elderly people. 

Shalini Singh, joint CP, Western Range was the chief guest for the occasion while Anto Alphonse, DCP Dwarka District, was guest of honour.  RP Meena, Additional DCP I, Dwarka District, Giriraj Singh, Addittional DCP II, Dwarka District were special guests.  

A talk on cyber security was given by a Delhi Police cyber expert. Joint CP spoke on ways to help the senior citizen avoid mishaps. 

Shalini Singh, said, “We should be careful about sharing any information with grocery sellers, local vendors etc.” She also emphasised on the traffic rules and exhorted the audience to abide by them. 

Speaking about the importance of verification of helps ad maid servant, she suggested that the community should keep their photographs with them. She made an appealed to the residents to spread awareness about security. 

Singh sensitised the participants about the security system for individual and the society.
