Volunteers of the NGO handed a jute bag to each household and maintenance staff of the society including maids and laundrymen.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Helping Others, an Indirapuram based NGO, distributed 1,000 jute bags in Gaur Green City, a residential society in the locality.
Ascribing the decision to distribute jute bags to Mahatma Gandhi's vision of cleanliness, Manish Gupta, founder of Helping Others, said, "We want our society and environment to be free from plastic."
Volunteers of the NGO handed a jute bag to each household and maintenance staff of the society including maids and laundrymen. "Hope this will help in making the residents aware about the hazards of plastic and reducing their dependence on it,” Gupta added.
Helping Others Trust, which was registered on September 15, 2016, is constantly making efforts to support the society on various welfare fronts. It is providing free medical aid to people belonging to economically weaker section. They organise bi-weekly medical camp every Wednesday and Saturday in Gaur Green City of Indirapuram, Ghaziabad.
Not just medical camp, the trust has also built “Neki Ki Deewar” (wall of virtue) outside Gate No. 2 of Gaur Green City where residents could hang old clothes on hooks under the shade to be used by the needy. Other societies are emulating the initiative.
