As a part of its drive against single-use plastic, team of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) carried out a raid at Sadar Bazar market on Saturday. Around 62 kg of polythene was seized from the shops.
The raid was carried out under the leadership of Joint Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Kulharia. He reached the market with his team and volunteers from Sennheiser to check the use of plastic in the city.
Underling the importance of Beat Plastic Pollution Campaign, the shopkeepers and the visitors to the market were made aware about the harmful effects of single-use plastic and polythene. They were also asked to stop its usage.
The shopkeepers were given strict instructions on avoiding using polythene following an action would be taken against them as per the rules.
